Home, finally. I had to take the bus back from Northern California 'cause Mr. Giles wouldn't send me the money for a plane ticket.

Couldn't the spell have lasted just a little bit longer? I was just about to see the dailies from Episode III! Seriously, would thirty more minutes have killed anyone?

And I had a copy of Sunnydale's Last Days autographed by George Lucas, and now it's just a blank case. This sucks.

I am concerned that Dawn has chosen to take employment with the former Scourge of Europe. I must protect her as well as keeping my eyes on that fountain of evilness. To that end I assisted in a mission for the so-called Champion Investigations. However, it was ultimately for the good, since the client didn't know she was asking for help from the private detective of evil, and sincerely needed help.
Unfortunately, things didn't work out as well as we'd hoped. Dawn said that Angel said that the client's sister was deceased before the client even came to <strike>us</strike> Champion Investigations for help. Which just sucks.

I was reading a Discworld book recently, and there was this guy in it who could remember perfectly everything he'd ever seen. I wish I could do that. Then I'd remember more about the guy who attacked me at the museum.

I was investigating. I saw the janitor. I decided to question him. Clearly, he felt threatened by my authority, so he blew some powder in my face. I heard him say something about "The Reborn One". Smeg! I should recall more! I tried to do a sketch of the guy's face, but I didn't get a good enough look.

Maybe I can take a memory-enhancement class or something? It would totally help my Watcher skills. I have a lot of work to do on Watchering. I mean, what kind of Watcher gets incapacitated when a Slayer is in danger? Sloppy work, Wells. Sloppy work.

I was sent to San Diego by the Council. The Watcher's Council. Is that so tough for people to understand? I have a mission here! There's procedures, and protocols, and I have to report back on what's going on, and if people rush off to deal with stuff that's really the job of someone else, that looks bad for me!

Fortunately, the black box was taken care of properly. But what happens next time, if no one listens to me, and something goes drastically wrong?

There must be a way to appear more authoritative. Maybe I need a new suit?

I have arrived safely in San Diego, and taken up residence in a local hotel. The Council has arranged for lodgings for myself, but they will not be available until the first of the month.

I have been assigned here semi-permanently. The Council wishes to keep an eye on the situation here as it develops, and I was perfect for the position, since I have had contact previously with the parties involved. (Honestly, I think some of the Council guys are a little scared of Buffy.)

No one's really sure what's up with Angel. He left Sunnydale to become the Dark Avenger in L.A., but ended up working for Wolfram and Hart, which is like, working for the Emperor. Does that make Angel Darth Vader? Only, Darth Vadar really was evil, until he reformed at the end, and Angel was working from within to destroy their Death Star (these Black Thorn guys, who were Wolfram & Harts secret weapons/command center). Well, Angel says he was working from within the whole time. The Council is not yet convinced of that fact. Indeed, that is one of the things I am here to determine.

The prophecy from the Oracle is another concern. I brought a number of books with me, at Mr. Giles's request, and there are several more boxes to be shipped once I have my apartment. Hidden within the leather-wrapped pages of these precious volumes may be the answers that we seek. I will immerse myself in the written word, and swim deep into the pool of knowledge in order to rescue the answers that we need.

However, it is still quite early. I am still running on English time. I believe I will make use of my early rising by refining my hand-eye coordination. Fortunately, there is an X-Box available for this purpose.

    <lj:music>Queen And Country - Jethro Tull</lj:music>

It has been an interesting day, indeed. Xander stayed here last night, a brief sojourn on his trip back to California. He told me some tales of his travels - he's seen so much! He ended up falling asleep during the last one - poor fellow. I shouldn't have kept him up so late, but I am glad I got to hear the story about the orphaned Slayer in Cairo!

I took some notes, too. I know Mr. Giles would have liked to hear Xander's stories, but he's been really busy. His presence is crucial in the reforming of the Watcher's Council, of course, although they do keep him really busy. Fortunately, he has me to assist him. I have taken on many tasks in an effort to lighten his load.

One of these tasks is dealing with phone calls. When Mr. Giles doesn't want to talk to someone, he has the calls sent to me. Today, Angel called.

The Council knows all about what happened in L.A. Everyone's talking about it. Mr. Giles said we didn't need to be concerned about it, though. We're keeping an eye on things in case the Senior Partners decide to expand their battleground, but otherwise, it isn't our fight. Willow and Buffy are in San Diego, but Mr. Giles said they needn't get involved.

Angel called earlier today, looking for help. I guess they had a pretty rough time in the battle. They must have won, but he said he there might be more hordes of demons coming after them. Mr. Giles was busy, so I couldn't ask him what to do, so I told Angel we couldn't help him.

Okay, I may have mentioned that there's help available in San Diego. Just as an afterthought. I mean, if there's really that much trouble coming, won't Buffy and Willow want to know about it? If it's really happening. If it's not a Wolfram and Hart trick.

Well, I didn't give Angel any real information. Nothing more than Mr. Giles would have told him, if he'd had the time, and all the details.
